NEW SONY, OLD MICKEY

It's not 100% confirmed yet, but it seems like there might be a new Walkman on its way. 4 colours of this player have been pictured, each with speaker grilles at the top and bottom. I think this will turn out to be a nice player, with the usual excellent Sony sound quality and the steep pricing. Stay tuned.

OPERA FINALE

Well, it's been more than a month since I decided to try out Opera 10 Beta. And to be honest, I've forgotten all about the switch. Everything seems to match the performance of Firefox, and there are even a few features in Opera that I think give it a slight edge, in my opinion, over Mozilla's browser.

As I mentioned before, the Wand is a big thing. It's convenient, and works for any log-in page of a site that you set it to remember. An interesting feature I also discovered was that you could enable tab thumbnails to see the pages in the different tabs you have open.

The only time I've had to go back to Firefox was when something with Opera didn't work with Facebook for some reason. It's when you can't post anything in the Facebook text boxes. However it seems to be gone.

I think I will stick with Opera for now. I'm excited for the official release of Opera 10. Maybe you should be too.

14 Day Mark: Opera 10

So all my bookmarks have been transfered from Firefox, and I'm using Opera 10 at a daily basis. The speed is the same as Firefox, not enough difference for me to tell.

- Opera's Opera Turbo function doesn't seem to add much speed and it also pixelates images on the web. I would advise users to stay away from it unless necessary.

- Opera has a lag/slow load up time, whereas Firefox was almost instant to your homepage.

- Opera's Wand function is really useful. It will save your passwords and login info for various sites (that you choose) and you will be able to log in at the click of the Wand button.

Overall, I'm satisfied with the browser. The biggest problem I see is the load time when I launch it.

EXPANDING HORIZONS: Opera 10

I have been a Mozilla Firefox user for a long time. It's fast, easy to use, and has a wide selection of add-ons.
When Chrome came out, I tried it out. Yes, it was fast, but I found myself going back to Firefox. And now, I'm prepared to make a change again.

Opera is the only browser I haven't used before (I've used IE, Safari, Firefox, and Chrome). The recent release of Opera 10 beta 1 got me interested, so I will start using the browser for one month, and post my thoughts about it later.

ANDROID MOVING ONTO AUDIO PLAYERS?

Google Android is the operating system found on the G1 Phone (aka HTC Dream). And quite a bit of people like it. The open-source system is expected to gain popularity quickly in the following years.

Apparently, in 2010, Sony will release a few devices (including a new Walkman) that will use the Android OS.

Since this is a rumor, there have been people saying this is highly unlikely, because Sony has been known for its use of proprietary software and hardware, but I guess we'll see soon enough.

THE INEVITABLE: IPHONE 3G S

S for Speed. That's the meaning of the iPhone 3G S.

The new iPhone has been expected for quite a while now, and as usual, most of the internet leaks are true. 3MP Camera (Auto Focus, Auto White Balance, Video Recording, No Flash, Meh), 7.2Mbps HSDPA, new longer lasting battery, compass, and some type of "fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating".

It is claimed that the iPhone 3G S can be up to 4x faster than the old 3G, even though they look almost identical.

Some "underrated" features can be the added voice control, text to speech, Nike+, and some added security features.

The biggest change in this new iPhone is the pricing, in my opinion. Of course, with Apple it's always getting cheaper gen by gen, so early adapters will slap themselves when they see a cut in price for the next generation. The current 3G 8GB, 99, 3G S 16GB, 199, 3G S 32GB, 299.

This or the Pre?

SONY ERICSSON CARES ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT

Well, that's the image they are trying to create for themselves, with the arrival of the GreenHeart Series. Currently, there's a C901 GreenHeart and a new, more basic and affordable Naite, a candybar featuring a 2mp camera. Both of these phones are fairly good looking.

Now the question is, how are they making it eco-friendly?

SE
claims to be bundling electronic manuals in the phone, rather than printing it out on paper. Now I don't know about the more recent models, but my w580i manual was useless on paper anyways. The casing of the phones will be made of recycled plastic too.

Check it out here.
